Anfield Pharmacy runs a private, pharmacist-led weight management service at 140 Oakfield Road, Liverpool L4. You have a confidential consultation with a pharmacist, who checks whether treatment is suitable for you, and you are then supported with regular reviews. You do not need a GP referral, and you can book online.
Who is the service for?
The service is for adults who have struggled to lose weight through diet and exercise alone. Medical weight loss treatment is only suitable for some people. It depends on your body mass index (BMI), your general health and any other medicines you take. The pharmacist makes that decision with you at the consultation, and will tell you honestly if treatment is not right for you.
What happens at the consultation?
- We measure your height and weight and work out your BMI.
- The pharmacist asks about your medical history, current medicines and what you have tried before.
- If treatment is clinically appropriate, the pharmacist explains the options, how they work, the likely side effects and the cost.
- You agree a plan together, including food, activity and follow-up.
Is it just medication?
No. Any treatment works alongside changes to eating and activity, and the reviews are a big part of the service. At each review the pharmacist checks your weight, how you are feeling and whether the plan needs adjusting.
Is it safe?
Treatment is only supplied after a clinical assessment by a pharmacist, from a GPhC-registered pharmacy (premises number 9010376). We do not supply treatment to anyone it is not suitable for, including people who are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18.
How much does it cost?
The cost depends on the treatment that is right for you. The pharmacist gives you a clear price before you decide anything. There is no obligation to go ahead after the consultation.
