Hycosan eye drops: Original, Extra, Fresh, Plus or Dual?

All Hycosan drops are preservative-free dry eye drops based on sodium hyaluronate, and all can be used with contact lenses. The difference is strength and what is added. For mild dryness choose Original. For more severe dryness choose Extra.

Which Hycosan should I choose?

  • Hycosan Original: sodium hyaluronate 0.1%. For mild to moderate dry, tired eyes. A good first choice.
  • Hycosan Extra: sodium hyaluronate 0.2%, twice the strength, for moderate to severe or persistent dryness.
  • Hycosan Fresh: a lighter drop for occasional dryness and tired eyes, for example after screen use.
  • Hycosan Plus: hyaluronate with dexpanthenol, for dry eyes with a sore or irritated surface.
  • Hycosan Dual: hyaluronate with ectoin, for dry eyes that are also itchy or irritated.

How often can I use them?

Usually one drop in each eye three times a day, and more often if needed. Because they have no preservatives, frequent use is fine.

How long does a bottle last once opened?

Hycosan bottles use a pump system that keeps the drops sterile, so they can be used for six months after opening.

When should I get my eyes checked?

See an optician or GP if your eyes are painful, very red, sensitive to light, or your vision changes.
